This biome is interesting in that, like the desert, most of the animals are small and/or nocturnal. Large animals just can't stand the heat of the day in most of the locations, also it's hard for a large animal to burrow to protest itself from the heat

Rattle SnakeRattle snakes have very large fangs that will inject large amounts of hemotoxic acid. This travels through your blood stream causing swelling and internal bleeding, EXTREME pain! They hunt small animals such as birds and rodents. Unless seen as a threat they won't attack you! The threat of being bitten by the distinctive sound of the rattling noise deters many predators. The rattle at the end of the snake is created by segments. Every time it sheds skin an new segment is added tot eh end. Rattlesnakes are prey of eagles and weasels which hunt during the day. So The Rattle Snake has adapted to having night vision so it can hunt during the night as a nocturnal. It also has heat sensors near its nose where it can sense a body coming towards them.

RoadrunnerThe Roadrunner is a type of bird. It has small rarely used wings (2). It has adapted to having small wings by learning to use its long fast legs to make up for it. It is about 58cm long and a long narrow tail to help it keep balance and turn quickly when it is running at up to 25km an hour! Unlike a lot of other birds it doesn't migrate away from its home. Roadrunners eat fruit and small animals. There are four toes on each foot; two in front and two behind. The Roadrunner crouches or hides in bushes. Or on the other hand it will just out run its predator.
